Primary bi-partisan election results and what they do

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, thousands of voters gathered at their local polling place to cast their vote in the Primary elections.
Acknowledging that in Dallas and Williamson counties, voters were turned away for not voting in their assigned precinct. A local countywide voting rule was changed for this primary election.
Now, we have that settled… On to the results!

U.S. Senate Democratic + Republican Primary
U.S. Senators represent their entire state in the upper chamber of Congress. Serves for six years. Some of their duties are: proposing legislation, drafting bills, approving or denying presidential appointees for agencies, and more.

Governor, Democratic + Republican Primary
A Governor is the leader of the state and commander-in-chief of Texas’s military forces. Serves four-year terms. Some of their duties are: signing or vetoing bills, convening special sessions, appointing Texans to state offices, and more.

A Lieutenant Governor of Texas is the second-highest executive office in Texas and is the president of the Texas State Senate. Serve four-year terms. Some of their duties are: Serving as a joint chair in multiple committees, appointing members to multiple committees and commissions, and more.

The Texas Attorney General is the chief lawyer and legal officer of Texas. Serve four-year terms. Some of their duties are: defending the laws and the constitution of Texas, representing the state in litigation, and approving public bond issues.

Comptroller, Democratic + Republican Primary
The Comptroller of Texas is the chief financial officer of Texas. Serves four-year terms. Some of their duties are: Maintaining Texas’s finances, acting as a tax collector, and more.

Land Commissioner, Democratic + Republican Primary
The Land Commissioner serves as the elected head of the Texas General Land Office (GLO). Serve four-year terms. Some of their duties are: preserving Texas land history, protecting the environment, and expanding innovation of state lands and resources, like diversifying revenue sources for the Permanent School Fund.

Agricultural Commissioner, Democratic + Republican Primary
The Texas Agricultural Commissioner heads the Texas Department of Agriculture. Serves four-year terms. Some of their duties are: regulate fuel pumps for drivers, regulate grocery store scales and retail price scanners to ensure consumers are charged advertised prices, administer school break and lunch programs in schools, and more.

Texas Supreme Court
The Texas Supreme Court is the last resort for civil and juvenile cases. It has 9 judges serving six-year terms. The Governor is able to appoint a replacement who must be confirmed by the Texas Senate.
